I’m Fiona P and I founded Emmaretta because I was frustrated that I couldn’t find colourful, soft and and fun hosiery anywhere in the world to fit me. In 2014 I decided to do something about it, so I went to hosiery school (yes there is such a thing!), wrote a business plan and just went for it.

I still work at my day job, but I just love the business of bringing you this range of stay-up stockings in sizes that suit every body. It’s what I work on early in the morning before I leave for the office, and in the evening when I get home. I have plenty of doubts, usually about whether you’ll like the products, but I just have to believe that I’m not the only one who thinks that we should all have enough fashion choices to create our own individual style.

In my day job I am occasionally expected to wear hosiery with a dress or skirt-suit for important meetings and events, and it drives me crazy that at best I will find a pair of black or tan coloured stay-ups that even in the biggest size, don’t fit well, and I’m worried about them falling down while I’m wearing them. I’m also not afraid to wear colour, depending on my mood, and it irks me that my choices are restricted to black and tan. Should I only wear drab colours just because I don’t have a perfect body? One day I’d just had enough of those thoughts, so I started this company.

Why stay-ups and not pantyhose? I just don’t like tight bands around my middle. I find that pantyhose, even in queen sizes, feel unsymmetrical and annoying around my waist. So I’ve always preferred stay-ups. I hope that you do too.

So now you know why Emmaretta exists and what we’re here for – to bring you great-feeling, long-lasting stay-up stockings in a range of fashionable colours and textures.

I live in an old house with 2 loving cats and my housemate, a pilot. Apart from working on this business, I’m a keen player of tabletop board games.
