Swimwear 2017 – three very different avenues

I have a confession to make. I’m not sure if I even own a swimsuit. And I live in the tropics – near the water. But I’ve never been an enthusiastic swimmer, even though like most Australians, I can swim. Maybe it’s because my holidays aren’t ever to beachy places that I don’t think about having nice swimsuits in my wardrobe like I do other items of clothing. Aaanyways, this year’s fantastic offering of plus-sized swimwear might just change my mind. Here are just three of the options out there, each from companyies with very different philosophies.
The amazing CurvyFashionista writes about the divine new range (up to US size 28) from Love & Hip Hop’s Tammy Rivera. I love this zippered red rashie called the Scuba Plus. US$130. Gorgeous colours too, including purple and bright yellow. Unashamedly sexy. Shop for it here.

Want something made just for you? Then try Smart Glamour, which customises your online purchases to get a great fit. One of their smimwear styles is the Arianna Convertible swim top (US$30). This top (you can order bottoms separately) can be tied 6 different ways. There are helpful totorials on how to do just that, as well as how to take your measurements to get the perfect fit. That’s what Smart Glamour is all about – getting a piece that fits just right for you. Check it out here.

Sweet Nothings NYC tipped me off to the gorgeous range of full-bust swimwear offered by Freya. Incredible style and fabric choice, sizes up to 2X, and Freya’s specialty – large bust sizes. Freya caters up to a JJ cup size in some styles. It doesn’t appear that you can buy online directly from UK-based Freya, but the website allows you to find stockists near you. Definitely worth checking out – you won’t believe the number of options.
